CNS is now owned & operated by the folks at
The Carrot Patch. While respecting the 1/2
century of CNS tradition for top-notch
pre-school programs, we have updated the
facility and the curriculum to meet the needs
of families in the 21st century.
About Us:
Hallmarks of our new program:
* Extended 1/2 day morning and afternoon
sessions offered for children 3-6
* Our Director has over 35 years experience in
Early Childhood Education
* All of our teachers hold a Bachelor's Degree
in Education
* We work with local public school staff to
ensure we supplement rather than duplicate the
kindergarten curriculum
* Developmentally-appropriate curriculum is
based on the Bank Street model and is
individually tailored to meet each student's needs

Preschool Center Details
Enrollment Process:
Check our website for specific Open
House/Registration dates. Otherwise, tours and
registration is by appointment only.
We are currently enrolling children for July
and August Summer Camp, and for Fall '07.
Limited space is available now.
Rest Area:
There are quiet areas at the school, but due
to the ages of the children and the length of
the program, there is no scheduled "nap time."
Play Area:
Our School is nestled on a wooded one and one
half acre parcel with clearings surrounded by
every imaginable variety of flora and fauna.
While we have a traditional "playground" with
climbing structures, we are smack dab in the
middle of our own environmental campus. There
is plenty of room for active and imaginative
play, and for science discovery and exploration.
Learning Area:
The Cheshire Nursery School is a comfortable,
modern, cheerful, and homey one-room
schoolhouse. We have all the important
activity centers: art studio, literacy and
communications, block building, dramatic play,
and mathematics. We also incorporate a "We are
Scientists" program, and "Stories in Motion"
which allows the children a forum to dramatize
their own written or dictated stories.
Supplies Required:
We provide all necessary supplies. There are
no additional fees or costs.
Food Provided:
We offer one hearty and healthful snack at
each session. We also provide an opportunity
in the schedule for children to relax and
enjoy a lunch brought from home.
Transportation:
Children enrolled in the a.m. kindergarten at
Darcey school are bused to CNS for our
afternoon session. At this time, all other
transportation is the responsibility of the
child's family.
School District:
We serve the Darcey School in Cheshire.
Special Promotions:
We offer a single, reduced registration fee
for children enrolling in the Summer Camp
program and Fall '07 at the same time.
